Lunar Eclipse in Taurus, October 2023

By September 30, 2023March 4th, 2024Eclipse posts, Full Moon, Signs: Taurus

The Lunar Eclipse in Taurus occurs at 5º on October 28, 2023, 1:25 PM Pacific Time. This October Eclipse in Taurus amplifies a conflict between calm confidence and a sense of vulnerability. Currently, we are transitioning out of an Eclipse Season falling along the Nodal axis in Taurus and Scorpio. As we move into the Aries and Libra nodal axis, we collectively learn the value of independence, honesty, and knowing ourselves. In addition, we challenge ourselves to release habitual codependence, people-pleasing, and placation.

Those with natal Moon in Taurus know instinctively how to withstand the vicissitudes of emotional tides by staying grounded in the body. Thus, the Moon is exalted in Taurus. Taurus encourages us all to reach for peace, calm, self-esteem, patience, and love of beauty. And simultaneously, we must let go of our intensity and turmoil. Remember, we can only focus on what we can control: ourselves.

Lunar Eclipse in Taurus: Easy Emotional Processing

Luckily, the Lunar Eclipse in Taurus boasts a good deal of harmonious aspects, softening the polarity of the Full Moon. On one hand, the Grand Trine in Water signs suggests that emotional intelligence can help us withstand our strong feelings. There are many ways to intelligently be with our feelings. For example, by letting our emotions flow through our bodies, we can fully experience and process them. This is much more effective than suppressing or avoiding our emotions.

On the other hand, we should stay mindful during this October Eclipse. Possibly, the easy confidence of the Grand Water Trine might lead us to emotionally steamroll our surroundings. Hopefully Saturn’s boundaries and integrity, as well as Vesta’s devotion to empathy, will keep us in check.

Lunar Eclipse in Taurus: Selfless Support

The Full Moon in Taurus highlights the ongoing conflict between peace and the status quo and instability and transformation. So we will continue, as we have all year, to feel a strong push and pull between the stubborn nature of Taurus and the controlling nature of Scorpio.  The Moon in Taurus receives a trine from Juno in Virgo, reminding us that a focus on selflessness and service to our partner or our close ones can help to alleviate power struggles at this time.

However, now that the nodal axis has fully transitioned into Aries/Libra, we are called to focus on honest interactions with others and a good relationship with ourselves. And there’s help from Juno, the Goddess of Committed Relating. Juno in Virgo helps to bring selflessness in our practical actions, instead of obscuring ourselves in favor of enmeshment. In other words, we can be of service to others while maintaining a sense of self-sufficiency and separateness. Thankfully, Virgo can help us to see where we can improve as partners and as emotional processors.
