What does the July Astrology Forecast hold in store for your Sun or Rising sign?

July Astrology Forecast:
This Month’s Planetary Movements

Faster-Moving Planets

Now that it’s July, we can kiss the fast-moving quality of spring goodbye. July begins with two planets traveling retrograde (Pluto and Saturn), while Neptune and Chiron go retrograde this month. This retrograde lineup means that projects you start now are likely to face some obstacles you can’t foresee when you begin. As these retrograde planets continue stacking up (Uranus goes retrograde in September, and Jupiter does too, in October), projects become harder to begin, manage and fully execute.

If you must start a big project (a new business, erect a building, home remodel, etc) and you cannot wait, be aware that you should build in some slack for the messes and setbacks that will inevitably occur. And this situation will reach a pinnacle in the autumn, where projects begun at that point will face maximum obstacles and frustrations. Or wait until next spring (February in particular), when all the outer planets will once again be moving forward and at speed.

July begins with a gathering of planets in Cancer, bringing attention and energy to the domain of home and family. When the Sun is in Cancer (June 20-July 22), it’s a wonderful season for entertaining at home and spending time with family. And when the Sun moves on into Leo on July 22nd, festivities become even more appealing.

Ceres is retrograde, bringing us all a Financial Retrospection Period, which lasts for several months. While Ceres is retrograde, it’s common to have financial problems emerge and demand a solution. “Financial Crisis Day” (not as dire as it sounds) is the day when Ceres, traveling retrograde / backwards, comes into opposition with the Sun. This brings illumination to your financial situation and the problem may come to a peak, followed quickly by a solution in the weeks that follow. Fortunately, Saturn harmonizes with both the Moon and Ceres, gently suggesting forms of discipline and structure that can help establish better patterns.

The video further down this page, all about Ceres Retrograde in Capricorn, explains more, but for now I want you to know that early in the month, July 5th, “Financial Crisis Day” lines up with a New Moon in Cancer. On July 5th, the Moon joins the Sun in a New Moon in Cancer, bringing a feeling of renewal. New Moons are a great time to plant seeds for new growth, and under this New Moon, you can plant seeds that grow into a better financial future.

Mercury travels Leo from July 2nd to 25th, helping Leos communicate better. This can also bring a domineering quality to conversations, so watch that tone of voice! It is, however, a great time for public speaking, especially for Fire signs Leo, Aries and Sagittarius.

Mercury will move on into Virgo on July 25th and this is one of his favorite signs to be in. Mercury in Virgo is a wonderful time for getting organized, and setting up systems and workflows for maximum efficiency. However, this year, Mercury will go retrograde in Virgo, on August 4th, and therefore some of the organizing may be forced on you in a moment of unexpected chaos. If you start the cleanup as soon as Mercury enters Virgo, on July 25th, perhaps the chaos won’t take you by surprise.

Venus moves into Leo on July 11, helping Leos be charming and magnetic. This is a great time for a redo of your style–such as getting a new haircut, tattoo, piercing, or spiffing up your wardrobe. Venus travels through Leo until August 4th.

Interesting relationship themes arise on July 12th due to two coinciding transits. One is that Venus opposes Pluto that day, which can trigger some deep, intimate conversations in relationships, or equally, it can put a person in a predatory situation. Best avoid that on this day. The other July 12th transit is that Juno, which went retrograde earlier in the year and has now been direct again for a few months, exits the span of degrees in which she went retrograde. This means that if you had marital difficulties starting as long ago as November of 2023, those can finally find a real resolution now, and you can get healthy closure and move on from the whole thing.

July 15th is a date to have caution about. On this day, Mars conjuncts Uranus. They are moving through the slow sign of Taurus, so I might not recommend that you avoid driving, but definitely avoid arguments on points of ideology with people who are stubbornly entrenched in their worldview and not at all open to hearing something different. Things could turn ugly.

Mars enters Gemini on July 20th, there to stay until early September. While Mars travels Gemini, it’s all too easy to get involved in too many projects and finish nothing. If you struggle with ADD, definitely plan your summer projects out, and stick to the brief. Also, don’t expect to run on caffeine, but put some real fuel in the tank.

On July 22nd we have a Full Moon in Capricorn. This is a Moon when it’s important to balance your home life with your work life. Don’t get caught up in work and forget to spend time with family. Don’t get caught up in house projects that compromise your ability to bring your best to work. Fortunately, Mars is here to help (by trining the Moon) with loads of drive–but beware that distractibility I mentioned regarding Mars in Gemini.

July 30th is an excellent night for expanding your social connections, either professionally or personally, as Juno the Matchmaker forms a gorgeous trine to Uranus (which rules communities). This is a Tuesday, so keep it light: I recommend speed-dating, singles mixer or business networking events on this auspicious evening.

Slower-Moving Planets

During 2024, Uranus is in Taurus, Neptune is in Pisces and Chiron is in Aries–exactly as they were in 2021, 2022, and 2023. However, in 2023, Saturn moved into Pisces, and Pluto moved into Aquarius. Jupiter is moving into Gemini in 2024. The video below explains what it means when a planet spends many years traveling through a sign (we call them “planetary eras”). Additionally, it summarizes where all of the heavy-hitting, slow-moving planets are in 2024.

This year, Jupiter will square Saturn and also sextile Chiron. This will allow for some powerful growth and evolution for you if you have planets in 12º – 19º of any Mutable sign (Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces, Virgo) or if you have a planet in Aries and being aspected by Chiron in 2023 or 2024 (that means, a planet in 17º – 21º of Aries). The video below shows you these aspects in motion and tells you how they will feel, and gives you important dates when the most potent events are likely to occur.

For historical context of what has changed since 2020, our videos and blog posts about Saturn in Aquarius, Jupiter in Pisces, Jupiter in Aries, and Jupiter in Taurus will bring you current. For more about Outer Planetary Movements in 2024, read on through the end of our astrology forecast.

July Astrology Forecast: Jupiter Is Now In Gemini

Jupiter changes signs about once every year and a half. Given that, Jupiter’s ingress into Gemini is a relatively temporary shift compared to Pluto’s monumental change. However, it marks a new mini-era nonetheless. Jupiter in Gemini will bring expansion in the realm of learning, writing, information, journalism, and media. Additionally, Jupiter in Gemini brings a joy in the beauty of language and communication, as well as an interest in the diversity of experience.

Interestingly, Jupiter is in detriment in Gemini, as the expansiveness of Jupiter struggles with the minute detail of Gemini. Therefore, wordiness and an overwhelm of information may also be present. Watch our video about this:

July Astrology Forecast: Ceres Retrograde in Capricorn

Ceres governs how we do good stewardship of our body, manage our money and build wealth. This year Ceres went retrograde in Capricorn on May 14th.. What does this mean? It’s time to reevaluate how you eat, your health habits and your finances. Read the  blogpost to discover what you should do while Ceres is retrograde and what dates will hold special meaning.

July Astrology Forecast: Mercury Watch

Mercury begins the month direct and fast. Take advantage of Mercury’s speed to get things into their best shape while it’s easy to do so—and before Mercury goes retrograde again early next month. The first half of the month is the best time to develop ideas, to initiate and move projects forward. This is the time to acquire and use machinery and technology, and carry out important communications and negotiations.

Mercury begins July in intuitive Water sign Cancer, then moves into flashy Fiery Leo by July 2. When Mercury moves into Leo, your thinking and communication will be colored by creativity and charisma. On July 6, Mer-cury conjuncts Vesta in Leo. This is a day to focus your creative mind on projects that allow expression of your true voice. Take some time away from the world to nurture your creative ideas. This creative emphasis will continue until Mercury enters Virgo on July 25. For more on the retrograde cycle, read about it here: This Year’s Mercury Retrogrades

Mercury Retrogrades of 2024

2024 has three Mercury Retrograde periods, spaced at 4-month intervals. The first of the year was in April and the next one will be in August. Do you want to be ready? Is your birthday coming up?

If your birthday is coming, you’ll want your annual birthday reading (called a “Solar Return” reading) to happen in the month before your birthday–because your birthday is your Personal New Year. It’s the best time for setting resolutions, intentions and new life-directions. Get yourself in alignment with what your Greater Self wants for you this year, beginning with knowing what the plan is.

Long-Term Shifts in 2024

Beyond the monthly changes of our astrology forecast, 2024 brings some major long-term shifts to our collective consciousness. Most of these changes are occurring due to outer planetary ingresses into new signs. Usually outer planets shift signs gradually. First they begin their preliminary steps into the new sign. Then they backtrack into the former one, and so on and so forth until the planet is solidly within the next sign. Naturally, these times of transition feature elements of both signs, and highlight the zodiac’s conceptually developmental nature from Aries to Pisces. Planets undergoing shifts into a new sign this year include Pluto and Jupiter, as well as the nodal axis of Eclipses. Read on for a bit about each transition.

Pluto Enters Aquarius

The most significant transition awaiting us in 2024 is Pluto’s ingress into Aquarius. That’s because Pluto is the slowest moving planet, and has been in Capricorn for the past 15 or so years. Plainly, Pluto’s transit through Capricorn has been a time of serious dismantling and unearthing of toxicity and corruption in mainstream power. Pluto first entered the fixed air sign Aquarius on March 23, 2023. In 2024, Pluto will continue its slow transition into Aquarius, as it retrogrades back in Capricorn to wrap up Capricorn themes, and then back into Aquarius again.

Pluto in Aquarius will reveal and transform toxic material in the realm of politics, humanitarianism, social justice, science, technology, social media, and the internet. Similarly to how Pluto’s transit through Capricorn revealed Capricornian shadow themes, Pluto’s transit through Aquarius will highlight the dark side of Aquarius.

For a more in-depth look at this significant collective shift, read our blogpost here: Pluto in Aquarius 2023-2044: A Transformation of Ideals.

Jupiter Enters Gemini

Watch for our video about this coming in June.
