Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio, May 2023:
You Are Not In Control

A Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio

The Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio occurs at 14º on May 5, 2023, 10:34 AM Pacific Time, and amplifies a pervasive sense of vulnerability. Moreover, most recent Eclipses have been falling along the Nodal axis in Taurus and Scorpio. As we transition from this Nodal Axis into the next (Aries and Libra), we are collectively learning the value of grounding, simplicity and stability. Simultaneously, we are challenged to release habitual passion and drama.

The Moon is in its fall in Scorpio, and is intensely vulnerable due to struggling with a sense of control. Therefore, when feeling out of control, a Scorpio Moon is prone to histrionics, drama, paranoia and jealousy. In addition, these qualities are perhaps enhanced by the presence of the South Node. The moon loosely conjuncts the Scorpio North Node, calling us to let go of our intensity and turmoil. We’re never really in control, so why try so hard?

Taurus Stellium

The Moon starkly opposes three planets in Taurus, which ask us to face earthy reality. We will continue, as we have all year, to feel a strong push and pull between the stubborn nature of Taurus and the controlling nature of Scorpio. Fortunately, the Sun in Taurus conjuncts Uranus and Vesta. Uranus lifts Taurus’ grounded nature with independence and rebelliousness. Uranus in Taurus is stubbornly rebellious, or grounded by conviction in its own unique genius.

Meanwhile, Vesta promotes spiritual focus and devotion. Simultaneously, she helps us feel our bodies in order to process difficult feelings. The emphasis on the Taurus North Node urges us to lean into simplicity. We can get clear on our values to guide us in our turbulent emotional experience.

Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio: Seeing our Shadow in the Inner World

Remember, a Lunar Eclipse is likely to bring up subjective emotional events. Therefore, the key to working with Lunar Eclipses is to keep an eye out for what we are experiencing internally. (Conversely, a Lunar Eclipse eclipse is likely to to be experienced externally as an event, or played out in our behavior.)

Interestingly, you may notice events occurring within the week surrounding the eclipse (up to a few days before or after). On top of that, you may notice the reverberations of an eclipse for several months after its occurrence.
