Venus Stations Direct, September 2023:

Maintaining Openheartedness and Tempering Ego

Venus has been retrograde in Leo since late July. Since then, we have been reflecting more deeply upon our relationships, our relationship to money, and our values. Relationships with significant others or friends may have been rocky, or gone through moments of testing. We may have experienced frustration at our financial situations, and considered making changes.

In September, Venus Retrograde is coming to an end, giving us a sense of closure surrounding whatever came up for us these past few months. In this article, you will find out how to make the most of Venus’ lessons as Venus Retrograde comes to a close.

Venus Stations Direct in Leo, September 3, 2023

Venus stations direct at 12º Leo on September 3, 2023 (the day before Jupiter stations retrograde). When a planet “stations” retrograde or direct, it means it is stationary as it changes direction. We call these stations “pivotal days,” because the planet we’re talking about is literally pivoting. And also because stations tend to lead to pivotal events for those of us Earthlings who are being affected by them.  Those pivotal events will trigger changes in us, and that will happen according to the nature of the transiting planet. In this case, we’re talking about Venus.

Venus will remain at 12º until September 10, 2023. At this point, it will begin its slow direct movement through Leo. By the time Venus Direct passes the point at which it originally went retrograde, it will have sped up to a normal clip again.

Energy peaks when a planet stations. Consequently, if you have a natal planet within 5º of the degree at which Venus stations direct, you will feel this transit very strongly.

Venus Stations Direct: Insights Regarding Freedom

On August 13, 2023, Venus Retrograde conjoined the Sun, resulting in a day of clear insight into our relationships, love, and money. We call this day “Relationship Clarity Day”. Whatever peak of insight we experienced on this day will likely ring as the solution to the problems we have been experiencing. Perhaps it will even articulate the problem itself.

On this day, Venus and the Sun also square Uranus. Therefore, any insight was likely about the need for detachment, freedom, and independence, despite our conflicting needs for loyalty, warmth, and romance. On one hand, Venus in Leo craves ego validation in relationship. On the other, Uranus’ detachment comes from not putting too much personal stock in one person, even if that person is your romantic partner. Plus, Venus in Leo needs to be special, whereas Uranus by principle sees itself as one of many.

With Venus Direct, perhaps we can now find the solution to these conflicting needs by learning how to maintain our own values independently from our romantic or business partners. Uranus is in Taurus, after all, which is about the independent and solitary relationship between oneself and one’s values.

Venus Direct in Leo: Insecurity and Confidence

Venus in Leo needs to feel confident in her relationships. Therefore, our confidence may have been tested over the course of this transit. On one hand, Venus in Leo’s performative, warm, and playful nature often win it lots of approval. On the other, its pride can be easily wounded.

It is easy for Venus in Leo to fall into the habit of using her relationships to validate her ego. You may have learned, over the course of this Venus Retrograde, that while mutual validation and support is a key ingredient of any relationship, using your partner’s praise to prop up your self-esteem is not a good recipe for confidence.

We may have found that our relationships suffered because of our own individual lack of self-confidence. This may, in turn, have lead to jealousy and other manifestations of insecurity. Now with Venus Direct, we may feel prompted to locate our source of confidence in a self-sufficient way. It is only through the health of our own egos that we are able to bring our strongest self to our relationships.

Venus Direct in Leo: Drama Versus Fun

Venus in Leo is one of the most playful Venus signs. However, that playfulness and theatricality can veer into toxic drama. With a love for color and attention, Venus in Leo may desire attention at any cost, if they’re feeling ignored. Drama may also be triggered if they feel that peace signifies a lack of romance or spark.

Now that Venus is direct, we are ready to integrate what we have learned about the futility of drama and how draining and negative it can be. We are also ready to positively channel Leo’s talent for play, laughter, love, and romance.

Does Venus Direct Affect Me?

If you have a planet in your chart placed between 7º and 17º of a Fixed sign, you’ll feel Venus’ station very personally.

This is also true if your birthday falls in any of the following date spans:

April 27 to May 7
July 29 to August 9
October 30 to November 9
January 27 to February 5
