Jupiter moves into Sagittarius: Back to the Gypsy… That I was …

By October 18, 2018September 27th, 2021Jupiter, Signs: Sagittarius

“So I’m back to the velvet underground
Back to the floor that I love
To a room with some lace and paper flowers
Back to the gypsy that I was
To the gypsy that I was

And you see you’re a gypsy
You see you’re a gypsy

To the gypsy
That remains
Her face says freedom

With a little fear
I have no fear
I have only love…”

If you feel like this past year has been intense, you are not alone. Jupiter’s recent pass through Scorpio brought trauma, secrets, and power struggles to the forefront, even on a social level with movements like Me Too (that began in 2006 when Jupiter was last in Scorpio and had a resurgence in 2018, when Jupiter was back in Scorpio) and Time’s Up. On a personal level, this transit has signaled a time of turbulence and deep regeneration. Now Jupiter emerges from the depths of introspective Scorpio and moves forward into philosophical Sagittarius, guiding us further on the journey of understanding both ourselves and the world around us.

This year Jupiter is moving into Sagittarius on November 8th. Jupiter usually spends a year and a month passing through a sign and will be finishing Sagittarius on December 2, 2019. This Sagittarius passage is a shift all of us will feel, with a very specific meaning and purpose. During 2019 Jupiter will go retrograde and will strongly affect some people more than others. Read on to find out how will it affect you.

What is Jupiter? Jupiter

Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, carries the energy of profound personal growth. Jupiter represents your inner guru, adventurer, gypsy, and sometimes, your inner zealot. It brings truth, luck, and experiences that widen your perspective and inspire you. Jupiter’s loud and confident voice brings discovery and awareness of higher meaning. As Jupiter makes its way through the zodiac, it expands the energy of each sign, urging us to look at the big picture of each archetype during its pass.

What is Sagittarius? Sagittarius symbol

Sagittarius is the ninth sign in the zodiac, ruling travel, higher knowledge, freedom, and a worldly view. This playful sign colors any planet passing through it with a wonderfully expansive Sagittarian hue. Sagittarius’s place in your chart symbolizes the area in life where you can find humor, optimism, and higher meaning. Sagittarius’s place in the cosmos is where possibility, wisdom and the spirit of adventure thrive, and Jupiter is its ruling cosmic traveler, carrying these traits through the other signs. What does it mean when Jupiter is in Sagittarius? Sagittarius

It’s “home, sweet home” when Jupiter is in Sagittarius. In Sagittarius, Jupiter is free to be itself, it can be joyful and inspired, it can travel in full Jupiterian style and it can immerse itself in ever-growing philosophical thought. Jupiter moving into Sagittarius is like the guru returning to the ashram, the gypsy returning to their traveling caravan, the professor returning to the university, the seeker embarking on a quest or the comedian performing at their favorite comedy club. This is a time of renewed optimism, a cultivated world view, and a new cycle of luck and opportunity.

Jupiter has returned home after its expedition through all the signs and can now put collective meaning into what it has learned. Now it is time for you to look at the journey you have made up until this point. What have you learned? Where in life have you expanded, and where in your life could you use more confidence, optimism, and belief in a higher meaning? The growth you need to experience with your Jupiter or Sagittarius stuff can happen, now that Jupiter is comfortable in its beloved home sign.

Jupiter in Sagittarius activates the seeker in all of us, the part in us that believes in divine wisdom and wants to fling ourselves into the unknown, in hopes of someday understanding it. It reminds us that synchronicity is often perceived as mere “luck” and if you have the faith to wish something incredible into the universe, it might just come true. The quest for freedom and higher meaning is now in full effect. After its year of intense introspection, Jupiter is guiding us to seek truth and meaning in the outside world through travel, morals, education, philosophy, and religion, and to reexamine our ideals.

If this DOES affect you, what should you do about it?

Jupiter in Sagittarius serves as a beacon for exploration and the search of higher meaning. Have you been allowing yourself enough freedom and space to expand your horizons? Or have you been a little too preoccupied with day-to-day details? Take a step back and think about the bigger picture. Look to your chart to see what Jupiter is expanding and where in life Jupiter is urging you to grow. The house Jupiter is passing through will be seeded with opportunity, and lucky things are more likely to happen in the area of life it symbolizes. To maximize your life, create a meditation or affirmation that invites freedom, opportunity, and guidance for your highest good, linger in that moment and feel your deservingness of all the good things Jupiterian. Focus on the feeling of gratitude for all the good you already have in this life area, then boldly ask for more and open (metaphorical) doors and windows for it to come through. When it arrives, recognize it, appreciate it, and take advantage of it.

Dream big! But don’t use this time as an excuse to lose sight of practicality. Instead of an all-or-nothing approach to your goals and aspirations, let the feeling of good fortune trickle into every little part of your day. Also keep in mind that Jupiter can expand confidence and righteousness, sometimes a little too much. So, balance wisdom with facts, and enthusiasm with rationality. Be prepared for expansion of whatever planet Jupiter is activating in your chart so you can reap the rewards of this lucky transit. Whether in your mind or on foot, go ahead… let your inner traveler roam. As Tolkien wrote, not all those who wander are lost.

“And you see you’re a gypsy
You see you’re a gypsy
To the gypsy
That remains
Her face says freedom

With a little fear
I have no fear
I have only love…”
